STATEMENT PROTESTING THE CHINESE AUTHORITIES FOR ISSUING THE "U-SHAPED LINE" MAP IN CHINESE PASSPORTS

TUYÊN BỐ PHẢN ĐỐI “HỘ CHIẾU LƯỠI BÒ” – BẢN TIẾNG ANH

STATEMENT PROTESTING THE CHINESE AUTHORITIES FOR ISSUING THE "U-SHAPED LINE" MAP IN CHINESE PASSPORTS
We, the signatories of this Statement, strongly oppose the new provocation by the Chinese authorities for having issued to its citizens passports bearing a map marking a nine-doted line (also known as the U-shaped line) that covers most of the East Vietnam Sea (South China Sea).
This is clearly a calculated action that shows the Chinese authorities are bent on using all possible means to conquer the South China Sea, paving the way to directly infringe the national sovereignty of the countries in the East Vietnam Sea  region, and seriously threatening the peace and stability therein.
This new move exposes the double-speak nature of the Chinese leaders when they expressed at the 18th Congress of the Communist Party of China as well as in the recent East Asia 7th Peace Summit on friendship and co-operation with other countries, especially with those around the East Vietnam Sea .
Many countries in the world have strongly condemned the Chinese authorities for this action because it violates international laws. They also do not accept Chinese passports contain a map that violates the sovereignty of other countries.
We support the declaration by the Spokesman of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of the Socialist Republic of Vietnam, dated 22-11-2012, which clearly stated that: "The above action by China has violated the sovereignty of Vietnam on the Hoang Sa and Truong Sa archipelagos, as well as the sovereignty and jurisdiction of Vietnam to areas related to the East Vietnam Sea".
We join the condemnations of other countries around the world against this new escalating step by China in implementing its expansionist designs.
We demand that the Chinese authorities must:
- Respect international laws and the sovereignty of other countries in the South China Sea.
- Stop the strategy of "breaking the bunch of chopsticks one by one" by isolating and dividing ASEAN countries on the East Vietnam Sea issues.
-Cease all the actions that impede the adoption of the Code of Conduct (Code of Conduct - COC) which all involved countries have to respect.
We will close ranks with all people of our country to fight to protect our national sovereignty in the sea and the islands in the East Vietnam Sea . At the same time we will maintain solidarity and cooperation with peoples of all concerned countries in the struggle for peace, stability, friendship, cooperation and development in the East Vietnam Sea .
We always attach great importance to the friendship with the Chinese people, and we hope that the Chinese people will understand the true history of the current crisis in the context of international laws, and not to be misguided by the expansionist policies of the authorities in the name of the so-called nationalism (Chauvinism).
We, the first signatories of this statement, wish to invite fellow citizens at home and abroad to join this statement in order to express our solidarity and our resolution against violations of our national sovereignty.
